The Hodag Muskie Challenge is a Catch and Release Tournament sponsored by the Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce, a non-profit organization. In its 26th year, the SHMC is touted as one of the most prestigious muskie tournaments in the Midwest.

With a 200 team capacity and $250 entry fee per team, the top prize payout for first place is a guaranteed $20,000.  Prizes are awarded on a point system of 30 points for each legal muskie caught plus one point for each ¼ inch over legal size.  Prizes are based on total points accumulated during the two days of fishing, which occurs on a selection of five lake groups in the Rhinelander area.

The Hodag Muskie Challenge includes a Saturday evening reception, raffles, collectible merchandise, and a Sunday Awards Ceremony.  Many fishermen come back year after year to try their skill and luck at the highly sought after first place championship.  This year's tournament will be held on September 18th - 20th, 2009.

REGISTRATION: All contestants must register in person.  At least 1 team member must be present Friday night.

  *Late check-in after Saturday morning briefing

BRIEFING: Mandatory attendance - all contestants.

• Saturday, September 19th, 2009 - 6:30 a.m.

FISHING TIMES:

• Saturday, September 19th, 2009 - 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
• Sunday, September 20th, 2009 - 7 a.m. - 12:00 noon

AWARDS CEREMONY:

• Sunday, September. 20th, 2009 - 1 p.m.

SELECTED RULES:

• ONE OR TWO PERSON TEAMS, LIMIT TWO CONTESTANTS PER BOAT
• LIMITED TO FIRST 200 TEAMS REGISTERED
• ENTRY FEE - $250 PER BOAT
• ALL BOATS MUST HAVE LIVE WELL OR APPROPRIATE CONTAINER
• CONTESTANTS MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR FISH WITH OR HAVE WRITTEN PERMISSION FROM LEGAL GUARDIAN
• MOTOR TROLLING OR ROW TROLLING IS NOT ALLOWED
• EACH PERSON FISHING IS ALLOWED ONLY ONE (1) LINE IN THE WATER AT ANY TIME
• NO LIVE BAIT ALLOWED

C A S H   P R I Z E S - DETERMINATION OF AWARDS

Prizes will be awarded on a point system:
